Love Month

Copyright 2013 Heartworkz

My "How Do I Love Thee" cushions with mini hearts were a joy to make and featured in an issue of Australian magazine Handmade.  Fabric used is lovely flannel with cream for the pocket in the first one.  Applique roses are in felt with felt scallops also.  Second cushion has flannel pocket with felt tabs.  Mini hearts are too cute and slip in the pocket for your honey to read! Stitching on mini hearts reads "Love your smile", Cutie Pie", "Sweetheart" and "You're my heart."

Summer Hues

Fresh as a daisy summer blue.  It is our summer here in Australia and nothing cools you down more than seeing a fresh blue in the garden.  Forget about cosy reds and yellows!  Think about this combination of delicious green and blues.

A gathering of color

Aren't the colors of Nature amazing!  Settle on your color scheme, gather a few bits and bobs and off you go.  These colors inspired me to design the cool and pretty purple Butterfly Garden quilt shown below

Butterfly Garden Quilt top

I did not want to use a complicated design for this quilt as some of the fabrics were quite detailed and too gorgeous to cut up!  So I came up with the giant log cabin idea with occasional squares to break up the lines.  Completed with Madame Butterfly flitting across the top.  Not finished yet.  More pics coming soon.

My favorite quilt with a definite love theme.  Loved the Annie and Andy characters so I incorporated them as the ultimate cute couple!  Machine appliqued and machine quilted by the very talented Carol Hutchins of Shepparton, Australia.  I wanted to incorporate applique, foundation piecing and classic piecing in this one.  Lovely swirly lemon/pink/blue fabric for border.

Enjoy these close ups of the applique.

Love bouquet and tag tie.

Queen Bee

I made this gorgeous gal a few years ago.  Resplendent in cornflower blue complete with her summer crown, a beehive hat of tulle, a mini flower pot and bee z z .
She carries a honey stirrer and bucket labelled with "royal jelly" as all Queen's should!  Sparkly purple shoes with antique buttons on the toes make her a regal lady!
